NFSU2 GARAGE.DAT Editor — Unlock All 5 Slots and Edit Slots 6–10

Updated · by Starladdey

The Need for Speed Underground 2 career garage has five sponsor slots, and extended 10-car garages keep slots 6 to 10 in a separate GARAGE.DAT file. The online editor handles both, right in your browser.

Unlock all 5 career garage slots

Click Enable All 5 Slots in the Career Garage header. In v1.1 this clears the per-slot lock byte (+0x428), copies valid slot headers and updates the global garage counter (0xA175), so all five slots work immediately, even on a Stage 1 save.

Edit extended slots 6–10 (GARAGE.DAT)

  1. Open the NFSU2 Save Editor.
  2. Switch the garage panel to the GARAGE.DAT (6–10) tab and load your GARAGE.DAT file.
  3. Edit the cars in slots 6–10 just like the regular slots: presets, Outrun Uniques, Dyno presets and .json import or export.
  4. Click Download GARAGE.DAT in the top bar and replace the original file.

The main career save and GARAGE.DAT are separate files, so if you changed both, download both. GARAGE.DAT files for slots 6–10 are used by nfsu2.xyz and the Extra Options mod.

Using saves from nfsu2.xyz

Export from nfsu2.xyz: download your save archive (.zip), open NFS Underground 2 → your profile folder, and drop the file matching your profile name into the editor. For slots 6–10, use the GARAGE.DAT tab and load GARAGE.DAT.

Import back to nfsu2.xyz: click Restore, select your edited save file (or GARAGE.DAT) and confirm the replacement.
